🎶 Play It Forward 2026 Play It Forward is Music Orchard Richmond’s signature fundraising celebration—where community, creativity, and a shared love of music come together for a powerful cause. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with live performances including a friendly student competition, a silent auction, raffle, and the joy of investing in Richmond’s young musicians. The music portion of our evening will feature our students and DJ and Emcee, Rei Alvarez.
Every dollar raised helps us provide inclusive and accessible music education, growth opportunities, and mentorship to K–12 students across the region—especially those in under-resourced communities. By Playing it Forward, you’re helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow, express themselves, and build a strong future through music.
Join us Nov. 5th, 2026 from 5:30-8:30pm at Triple Crossing Brewery, Fulton Hill. We'll provide incredible music, some of Triple Crossing's famous hors d'oeuvres, pizza, and beverages, and you come celebrate the power of music, support the next generation, and help us build a more joyful, equitable Richmond—one note at a time.

Music Orchard Richmond (MOR) exists nurture a love for music in K-12 youth by providing exceptional and accessible music education through community support and advocacy. In 2023, following a change in leadership, MOR launched new re-aligned programs following conversations with over 30 community leaders, teachers, parents, students, music educators. These new programs, now just three years old have reached over 350 students - gifting them the opportunity to experience music education at the highest level, barrier-free. From free lessons and group classes, to in school residencies supporting and supplementing school music programs, MOR is committed to providing music education at low to no cost to every student in Richmond with an interest - and to doing so in collaboration with existing programs and the school districts.
In the 25/26 school year, MOR served 192 students providing over 1400 hours of instruction. These students ranged from 1st to 12th grade, across eleven sites and locations with 61% of students receiving access at no cost to them and their families. What did they have to say?
Gilbert, grade 4, shared that "playing makes him feel happy!" His mom shared: "[When Gilbert] feels that genuine care and love from the people investing in him, he absolutely lights up - and that's exactly what's happening with Music Orchard. He now makes sure to tell us (Mom and Dad) not to pick him up from Peter Paul until after his violin practice, which honestly says everything. I truly believe this experience will stay with him and shape how he sees himself for years to come." -Vernell, Gilbert's Mom
